Extra-Curricular and Inter-Curricular activities

We purposely planned our school day to feature a lengthier mid-day break which is utilised constructively to offer our students various break clubs organised by our staff. This significantly contributes to the holistic development of our learners, a key feature of the Sacred Heart educational mission. Among our mid-day break clubs, one finds the following:

  • Science Club
  • Drama Club
  • Crafts Club
  • Growth Group
  • Sports Clubs such as Netball, Badminton and Basketball amongst others
  • Astronomy

EkoSkola

The school was awarded the Green Flag for the sixth consecutive year in 2022. New initiatives are embarked upon every scholastic year, usually in conjunction with the Goal in focus. Furthermore, the Senior School is part of the Sacred Heart Network of European Schools which organises a yearly Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) conference which tackles sustainable development goals in light of Pope Francis’ Encicla Laudato Si.

Examples of EkoSkola initiatives are:

  • Collecting reusable Items and rough paper and finding creative ways of reusing these materials
  • Organising school and out-of-school cleanups
  • Raising awareness by encouraging students to participate in competitions involving essays, posters, poems, drawing or song competitions
  • Promoting more sustainable reading through the exchange of books, thus reducing book waste
  • Labelling of bins to make them more appealing and promoting the correct ways of recycling
  • Promoting the Bring Your Own Device Policy to reduce paper waste

Through the EkoSkola Link teachers, the school also promotes participation in other national initiatives such as Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE).

Students’ Council

The College believes in giving a voice to students and opportunities for them to discuss innovative ways of making their life at school more fulfilling. The Students’ School Council is one such forum. Council members are elected by their fellow students following an in-house electoral campaign. Council members meet regularly to discuss how they can contribute to the continued improvement of the College. With the help of educator mentors, they develop leadership and problem-solving skills and learn active citizenship, effectively preparing for adult life outside the four walls of the College.
