Our roots

The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in Malta in August 1903. By this time, it was already well-established in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. A number of families in Malta had begun educating their children within Sacred Heart Schools in European countries such as at Trinita’ dei Monti, Rome; at Roehampton, London and at the Rue de Varenne, Paris. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before parents began to request a Sacred Heart school for their children’s education in Malta.

🍂 Celebrating the Feast of Saint Martin 🍂

Our Year 3 students celebrated the Feast of Saint Martin with great enthusiasm during their assembly! They beautifully re-told the inspiring story of this generous saint, reminding us all of the importance of kindness and community — the core value we are focusing on as a school this year. ❤️

Like St Martin, we are encouraged to look out for others who may need our help and to share what we can. 🌟

The Year 3 talents truly shone bright on stage through their wonderful acting, singing, and music performances. Well done to all our young performers and their teachers for this heartfelt celebration! 👏✨

🚦 Road Safety Talk with LESA Community Officers 🚓👮‍♀️

Today, our Year One students had a special visit from the LESA Community Officers, who spoke to them about the importance of road safety. 🛑

The officers explained why children should always sit in the back seat and wear a seatbelt to stay safe. The students also learned about the traffic light colours and even sang a fun road safety song! 🎶🚦

The session was highly interactive — the children got to ride a toy motorbike along a track, putting what they learned into practice in a playful and engaging way. 🏍️💨 Afterwards, they enjoyed a colouring activity to reinforce the message.

It was truly a fun and educational experience that helped our young learners understand how to stay safe on the road! 🌟

💻🎮 Code Week Fun Continues! 🎮💻

As part of Code Week, our Year 3 Sunflowers Group 2 continued their coding adventures in the ICT lab with the Angry Birds Coding Challenge! 🐦🐷

Their mission? To guide the angry bird through a tricky maze to catch the sneaky pig that stole its eggs! Using coding commands, the girls learned how to make the bird move, turn, and conquer each level — one block of code at a time. 💡✨

It was a fun-filled, hands-on experience that showed just how creative and exciting coding can be! 🚀💻

🧭✨ Year 4 Bluebells Learn About Directions! ✨🗺️

Our Year 4 Bluebells explored the topic of directions in a fun and interactive way! They began by brainstorming and writing useful directional vocabulary on their mini whiteboards, discussing how they could help someone who was lost.

Next, pupils followed a set of directions that led them to a surprise destination — our school garden! 🌿 Once there, they worked in pairs to choose a landmark and guide their partner to it using accurate directional language.

To finish, students used a map to write their own set of directions leading to a specific point, applying the new vocabulary they had created earlier.

A hands-on and engaging way to build language skills while learning to navigate the world around them! 🧭

🌿❄️ Year 4 Bluebells Explore the Seasons ❄️🌿

In the last week of October, our Year 4 Bluebells took their Seasons learning outdoors into the school garden. They discussed how the world changes from one season to another and used their senses to imagine a winter’s day — thinking about what they might see, hear, smell, feel, and even eat (hot soup and warm chocolate were popular choices! ☕).

Pupils explored different textures in nature, built a rich winter-themed vocabulary, and enjoyed reading and writing acrostic poems — ending with their very own poem inspired by the word “Xitwa” (Winter).

A wonderful blend of creativity, imagination, and outdoor learning! 🌿✨
