Our roots

The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in Malta in August 1903. By this time, it was already well-established in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. A number of families in Malta had begun educating their children within Sacred Heart Schools in European countries such as at Trinita’ dei Monti, Rome; at Roehampton, London and at the Rue de Varenne, Paris. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before parents began to request a Sacred Heart school for their children’s education in Malta.

Keziah Sciberras, a Year 7One student, has been working on a fundraising project together with her parents and grandmother since summer 2025. During this time, Keziah gathered carob and, with her grandmother’s guidance, learned how to make traditional carob syrup. Through this experience, she learned the value of hard work, perseverance, money, and also had the opportunity to meet many people who supported her initiative.

Through her dedication, Keziah managed to prepare and sell all 80 jars of carob syrup, raising an impressive €600. The funds were equally donated to two organisations: the Ursuline Sisters of St Angela Merici and the Malta Trust Foundation, both of which work to support those in need.

This initiative has inspired Keziah to already begin working on another fundraising project and beautifully reflects this year’s goal of community — showing how coming together, caring for others, and taking responsibility for those around us can truly make a difference.

Role play is a powerful tool in language learning because it allows students to practice speaking in real-life situations while building confidence and creativity. Our students took on the challenge of pretending to be sick in a short French role-play. By acting out these scenarios, they not reinforced their vocabulary and also developed their ability to express themselves in French. Activities like these make learning interactive, fun, and memorable, showing that language comes alive when it is used in context. ... See MoreSee Less

🌻 Year 3 Sunflowers Enjoy Bingo bil-Malti! 🌻

The Year 3 Sunflowers had a fantastic time practising their numbers through playing Bingo! 🎉

As their teacher called out the numbers in Maltese, the girls eagerly searched their bingo cards, excited to find and mark the correct answers. The classroom was filled with laughter, cheers, and lots of smiles as learning became a fun and interactive game.

Well done, girls! 👏 Learning together makes every lesson extra special. 💛
