Our roots

The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in Malta in August 1903. By this time, it was already well-established in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. A number of families in Malta had begun educating their children within Sacred Heart Schools in European countries such as at Trinita’ dei Monti, Rome; at Roehampton, London and at the Rue de Varenne, Paris. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before parents began to request a Sacred Heart school for their children’s education in Malta.

Ilbieraħ fil-kulleġġ kellna żjara interessanti ħafna mid-Dipartiment tal-Protezzjoni Ċivili (CPD).

Il-pumpiera tkellmu mal-istudenti tas-Sena 7 dwar ix-xogħol li jagħmlu ta’ kuljum. Spjegawlhom ukoll dwar il-perikli ta' madwarhom, kif jistgħu jibqgħu siguri, kif jevitaw nirien u kif jaġixxu f’każ ta’ emerġenza.

L-istudenti kellhom ukoll l-opportunità jaraw mill-qrib it-tagħmir li jintuża biex jitfu n-nirien u tgħallmu kif jaħdem dan l-apparat, kif ukoll raw mill-viċin it-trakk tat-tifi tan-nar. Din kienet esperjenza edukattiva u interessanti li żgur ħalliet impatt pożittiv fuq it-tfal tagħna!

Grazzi lill-għalliema tal-Health & Safety u dawk tal-Guidance tal-ħin u x-xogħol tagħhom biex ikkoordinaw din il-ġurnata.

Outdoors Mathematics with Year 7!

Today our Year 7 students enjoyed a refreshing outdoor Maths lesson, combining fresh air with problem-solving fun!

During the lesson, students explored angles through a tangram, one of the oldest and most fascinating puzzles in Mathematics. Invented in China over 200 years ago, the tangram challenged the students to think critically, collaborate, and apply their knowledge of angles in a hands-on and engaging way.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity, and teamwork as Maths came to life beyond the classroom walls. Learning outdoors certainly adds a special angle to learning!

📚 Book Champions Award – Year 2 Entry 📚

Our Year 2 classes are proud to share their learning journey for this year’s Book Champions Award!

Our adventure began with an engaging storytelling session of “Xi xtaqet issir il-mama’” by Graziella Calleja, delivered by our Deputy Head. This inspiring story beautifully launched our Maltese topic, People Who Help Us in Our Towns and Villages, while strengthening links with Social Studies.

To enrich our learning even further, we welcomed special visitors to our school. Members of the Police Force spoke to the children about their important role in keeping our community safe. Our very own secretary, Ms Steph, shared with our little ones the valuable work she does each day to help our school run smoothly. We also had a lovely visit from a mother and her new baby, who explained how much care and responsibility is involved in looking after a little one, and how children can help care for their younger brothers and sisters at home.

Our learners also visited Little Peeps – a miniature village experience where they explored different workplaces and enthusiastically role-played various community roles. From doctors and dentists to shopkeepers and firefighters, the children embraced every opportunity to step into the shoes of the people who help us every day. This hands-on experience also helped them make meaningful connections with our Science topic on the human body and senses.

To reflect on their learning, the students created beautiful drawings and wrote sentences about their favourite career pathways, sharing their dreams and aspirations for the future.

We are incredibly proud of their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout this journey. Well done, Year 2 Book Champions! 🌟📖

Year 7 Parents Open Day

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome parents to our Year 7 Open Day at the College.

The morning began with Mass in the Chapel, followed by a talk entitled “The vital role of parents in relation to the needs of 11-year-olds as they are stepping into adolescence,” delivered by Ms Marisa Mintoff. The session highlighted the importance of strong collaboration between home and school as our students begin this important stage of their lives.

After a short coffee break, parents had the opportunity to visit classes and observe lessons taking place during the sixth lesson. The subjects observed included: Home Economics & Design and Technology, Environmental Studies, Gym & PSCD, Religious Education and Mathematics.

We hope these visits offered parents a valuable insight into their children’s learning environment and the rich educational experiences offered at the College.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Ms Vella and the guidance teachers for coordinating the day so smoothly, to Ms Ben for the Mass preparations, and to all the teachers who warmly welcomed parents into their classrooms.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us —their presence and support are truly appreciated.
