Our roots

The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in Malta in August 1903. By this time, it was already well-established in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. A number of families in Malta had begun educating their children within Sacred Heart Schools in European countries such as at Trinita’ dei Monti, Rome; at Roehampton, London and at the Rue de Varenne, Paris. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before parents began to request a Sacred Heart school for their children’s education in Malta.

Just before breaking up for the Easter holidays, our Year 2 classes gathered in the beautiful school garden to re-enact the Last Supper.

This meaningful activity was especially significant as these students will soon be receiving their First Holy Communion. Through this hands-on experience, the children were able to imagine and reflect on that holy night when Jesus gave us His body as food for our souls.

It was a beautiful moment of prayer, learning, and preparation, helping the children deepen their understanding of this special sacrament as they continue their faith journey towards Easter.
