Our roots

The Society of the Sacred Heart was founded in Malta in August 1903. By this time, it was already well-established in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. A number of families in Malta had begun educating their children within Sacred Heart Schools in European countries such as at Trinita’ dei Monti, Rome; at Roehampton, London and at the Rue de Varenne, Paris. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before parents began to request a Sacred Heart school for their children’s education in Malta.

On the 25th of May, we joyfully celebrated the Feast of St Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart. 🌸❤️

Our group Seekers prepared a wonderful assembly, imagining what Madeleine Sophie would say if she were to visit our school today. Through their thoughtful reflections and creativity, they helped us see how her vision and values are still alive among us.

The assembly focused on the goals she wished to share with all young people: faith, intellect, character, community, and social awareness. It was inspiring to reflect on how we strive to live these values every day within our school community.

A heartfelt well done to Seekers for such a meaningful and engaging celebration that reminded us all of the spirit and mission of Sacred Heart education. ✨

Today, our school community is celebrating the Feast of St Madeleine Sophie Barat, foundress of the Society of the Sacred Heart, in a very special and meaningful way.

In the Senior School, the day began with Holy Mass celebrated by Fr Marco Portelli in the auditorium. It was a beautiful moment of prayer and unity, where students and staff came together as one community, inspired by the life and values of our foundress and encouraged to emulate her example in our daily lives.

Between today and tomorrow, students are also being invited to spend time in front of the Blessed Eucharist. Guided by their teachers, each class will have the opportunity to pause for prayer, silent reflection, and adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.

May these two days renew our faith and remind us of the powerful words of St Madeleine Sophie, who said that she “would have founded the Society even for one child.” May we continue to see God in each and every person we encounter every day at school and beyond.

Our Year 3 Sunflowers enjoyed listening to The Very Hungry Caterpillar this week! 🐛📚

Together, the girls talked about caterpillars, bugs, and other minibeasts that we often see during springtime. They loved sharing their ideas and learning more about these tiny creatures. 🌸🦋

Afterwards, they made their very own caterpillar crafts, creating colourful designs while developing their creativity and fine motor skills. It was wonderful to see their imagination and enthusiasm shine throughout the activity! ✨

Our Year 3 Sunflowers had a fantastic time bringing their writing task to life this week! ✨📚

As part of their work on Wailing Winny's Car Boot Sale, the girls were encouraged to dress up and fully immerse themselves in the story before completing their writing task. From colourful costumes to creative accessories, they embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, imagination, and plenty of smiles! 💫

It was wonderful to see their creativity shine both in their outfits and in their writing. Well done, Year 3 Sunflowers! 👏
