Curricular Accessibility
The Junior School aims to celebrate the diverse abilities and talents of every individual. Hence, we recognize the importance of providing equitable learning opportunities for all. We acknowledge the need to provide learning and teaching practices which recognise and meet the learning needs of all students. This requires a proactive approach for learner variability which reduced barriers and supports learners from the very beginning. Our educators ensure that various teaching and learning strategies are incorporated in the daily planning to target different learning styles namely visual, auditory, kinaesthetic and verbal. To this end, class assistants support the class teacher to be able to provide this individualised and learner-centred teaching approach. Learners with a statement also benefit from a Learning Support Educator (LSE) as indicated by the Statementing Moderating Panel. LSEs work in close collaboration with the class teachers, SLT and the Head of Department for Inclusion (INCO) to create an individual education programme (IEP) which targets the specific needs of these learners. Parental involvement is always highly valued and close collaboration between parents and educators is encouraged to target the holistic development of each learner.
